The Brief
Marantz was in the midst of a significant transition, re-positioning itself as a luxury brand. This was causing long-time Marantz enthusiasts to worry about the brand’s legendary commitment to “the most musical sound.”
We needed to find a way to reassure Marantz fans that sound was still priority number one while continuing to move the brand forward.
I partnered with Vinyl Me, Please to produce a 180gm vinyl, four-record collection of music.
Conceived in support of Marantz’s Model 40n launch, “Explorations in Sound” helps Marantz enthusiasts evaluate their audio systems while also supporting the ongoing brand transition by drawing younger music fans to Marantz.
I worked with Versus Creative to build the social media campaign, which featured many of the artists included in the compilation. The artists posted similar content on their own social media channels.

Tracks 1 - 9 are the “Listen Like a Sound Master” tracks, selected by the Marantz Sound Master.
Tracks 10 - 23 are the “Listen Like a Producer” tracks, and include more contemporary pop music.

The Model 40n amplifier achieved over 50% of its sales budget before it even launched.
Marantz Instagram followers grew 12.5% in one month.
